Sure Glamorous Glennis, and Chuck Yeager’s, Mach 1 flight get all the attention, but there were two X-1s. 46-063 is the younger sister. She ended up being modified into the X-1E after the initial X-1 program ended and made all the way to Mach 2.5+.

if I know anything about jets, then I can safely say that the X-1E was the all-electric model designed to bring up the Air Force CAFE number, right?

Sure, go with that. The USAF was all about emissions in the late 40s and early 50s.
